Homecoming poster
I recently had the opportunity to design a poster for classical music, welcoming home astronauts back from the Russian space station. I was very honored to have been asked to design this and it was very fun project.
The two sketches above are the initial ideas that I sent to the client based on the brief, which needed to take inspiration from Yu A Gagarin Research Centre's website while also showing some of the performers on the night.
It was also interesting to be working in Russian (a language I know nothing about) which meant I had to spend time looking for fonts that supported Cyrillic characters. I eventually chose bold Intro to contrast with the delicate and classical Lora.
Spring is here!
It's been a while since I've written about anything, but being in a different city does somehow consume your life. So to self-celebrate (of how Gen-Y of me!) my return from month-long absence, here is a collection of floral photos to mark the glorious arrival of Spring.
LIfe drawing
Last week, for the first time in over a year, I went to a life drawing session. It felt so nice to be able to not think but be mentally stimulated at the same time. It was liberating to be able to do your own thing amongst other people who needed to do their own thing and then walk around seeing everyone's personal style and interpretations of the models. I'm completely fascinated by the way the human body ripples and tenses and is so vulnerable and confident at the same time.

Oh and there was free pizza.
Colour and Balance
Absolutely in love with these poignant and beautifully crafted photographs from Raw Colour for Sight Unseen. The way that the elements balance delicately against is each other creates an unlikely tension.
